Thanksgiving Celebrations This Year

Traditional Thanksgiving gatherings with family and friends are fun, however they have the potential to increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu. The CDC suggests that the safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year is to celebrate with people in your household. If you do plan to spend Thanksgiving with people outside your household, they say you should take steps to make your celebration safer. This list includes:

  • Wear a Mask;

  • Stay at least 6 feet away from others who do not live with you;

  • Wash your hands;

  • Consider hosting an outdoor picnic - just like the first Thanksgiving!

There are many websites currently offering adorable Thanksgiving masks. Check them out HERE. Give everyone a themed mask as a party favor. They will be sure to appreciate the gesture, and it will help promote a safe environment for everyone to enjoy. However, give yourself plenty of time for shipping.

There are also creative Thanksgiving hand sanitizer ideas to have at the place settings. Check out Amazon for some printable “Give Thanks Not Germs” Thanksgiving Hand Sanitizer Labels. They are easy to apply and so cute that everyone will want one.

And, celebrate like the original Pilgrims and Indians did - OUTDOORS! Real Simple has some fabulous ideas on how to host an outdoor Thanksgiving feast. They include: getting your patio ready; being creative with the menu; offering hot beverages - if the Florida weather ever cools off; and planning some fun outdoor entertainment.

BCS we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the health and well-being of our school community is one of our top priorities during this pandemic. As you travel, please remember to practice safe distancing measures and overall COVID safety protocols. Bethany continues to follow the CDC website to obtain the most current updates, especially as it relates to travel. Please CLICK HERE to access this information.

PLEASE NOTE: Once we return from the Thanksgiving holiday, BCS will require all students in Kindergarten through Middle School to wear a cloth or disposable mask upon returning to campus. Face shields and gaiters will no longer be allowed by themselves. Cloth or disposable masks may be worn in addition to the face shield; however the face shield will no longer be allowed to be worn by itself.

We want to continue to provide a safe and healthy environment for the other children, keeping the spread of sickness to a minimum. If your child is diagnosed with a communicable illness, we ask that you immediately inform the school nurse, Mrs. Lisa Murray, by calling (954) 522.2554. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving Bobcats! Stay Safe, Healthy and Happy!
