BCS is an outreach school that accepts students regardless of parental faith assuming parental consent to Christian teachings. If applicable, transcripts and recommendations from previous schools are required. An entrance examination is required for students entering Kindergarten through Grade 8. Under most circumstances, Bethany accepts only students performing at grade level or above.

GENERAL POLICIES

  • The student must demonstrate academic competence as indicated by previous grades, achievement tests, and placement tests used to determine grade level performance. The school must determine if it can provide a program and environment that will meet the student’s academic needs and develop the student’s academic potential.
  • Placement testing is required of all applicants, and will be done after the online application has been submitted. The family will be contacted by the Admissions Office to make arrangements for the student to come in and take BCS's Entrance Assessment.
  • In considering applicants, the Admissions Committee evaluates students before admission to identify the student's needs, and the ability of BCS to meet them. A student’s admission acceptance status includes, but is not limited to, the online application, assessment results (when applicable), prior school report cards, recommendations and/or reports for services such as occupational, speech or physical therapy (when applicable), teacher recommendations, and standardized testing records. The order in which applications are received does not guarantee admissions over other applicants.
  • Upon review of the application, records, and assessments, those who qualify for admission will be contacted for a personal interview with the Principal and Admissions Director. Both parents and the prospective student(s) are required to attend.
  • BCS will notify each student of their acceptance as a student at BCS in writing, usually in the form of an email. Bethany reserves the right to place a student at the appropriate grade level. All new students are accepted on both an academic and behavior probationary status.
  • BCS admits students of any gender, race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, athletic and other school-administered programs.
  • Any student with a known or suspected learning difference/disability must be communicated in the application process. Please be assured that BCS does not share such information without parent knowledge and permission. BCS also does not in any way allow a disability to stigmatize a student. While BCS cannot accommodate all learning differences/disabilities, the school is committed to assist students as much as possible given the available resources. It is imperative that parents honestly disclose all known or suspected learning differences/disabilities to ensure whether or not BCS can meet the specific need.

ENROLLMENT

  • Upon acceptance, an enrollment packet will be provided via email detailing the financial arrangements and documentation that must be completed. A student is not considered enrolled, and a place will not be secured in a class, until the enrollment packet has been submitted, all required fees are paid, all documents are completed and signed, and all immunizations are current and on file.

LEARNING DIFFERENCES

  • Students who have current documentation on file for an identified learning difference, diagnosed by a licensed diagnostician or a licensed medical professional, may or may not be considered for enrollment. Admission for students with learning differences/disabilities will greatly depend on the diagnosis, accommodations that are required, and the school’s ability to meet those accommodations. Due to staff and spacial limitations, BCS is not equipped to guarantee the accommodation or the full implementation of a student’s existing Individual Education Plan (IEP).

REVERSAL OF ACCEPTANCE

In general, there are few circumstances that will cause the school to reverse a prior decision to accept a student. They include, but are not limited, to the following:

  1. There is evidence that information provided the school has been falsified. In the event that an obvious attempt has been made to gain acceptance by falsifying information, the student will not be permitted to attend school even if a prior acceptance has been granted. This includes information obtained from written records, as well as, from verbal comments made during interviews.
  2. A student fails to show up for the first day of school and no contact with the school has been made to account for the absence. If a student is absent for five (5) days without the family giving notification to the school, the student may be removed from the school and the space given to another student.
  3. No payments have been made to secure the seat in the classroom. This includes, but is not limited to, any fees (Enrollment, Facility, Security, Activity, Technology, etc.) and any tuition payments. If the Finance Office is not informed and payment arrangements have not been made, the student will be removed from the school and the space given to another student.
