Bethany Christian School, established in 1980, is a ministry of Rio Vista Community Church that offers PK2-Grade 8. The school is located in the Rio Vista neighborhood of downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida and currently has approximately 310 students. Bethany is well known for offering academic excellence in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment. Small class sizes coupled with individualized attention ensure that our students experience maximum success on the academic, emotional, and spiritual fronts.

Year after year, our students achieve scores well above the national average on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills. For the 2014-2015 school year, every single one of Bethany’s classes — without exception — ranked in the top 10% of classes nationwide.

For the second consecutive year, our Kindergarten program ranked in the top 1% in the nation — highlighting the effectiveness of both our Preschool and our Kindergarten programs. At the other end of the elementary spectrum, our fifth-grade class ranked in the top 2% of classes nationwide. For the second consecutive year, Bethany’s elementary program (K-5) ranked in the top 4% of elementary schools. Not to be outdone, our Middle School students also performed exceptionally well. Both our seventh-grade and eighth-grade classes demonstrated a grade equivalency on par with the nation’s average high school senior.

Overall, Bethany students are ranked top 4% in the nation. In addition, BCS students are routinely selected for the Duke University Talent Identification Program on the basis of their superior ITBS scores.

Bethany's middle school graduates routinely matriculate into the high schools of their choice. In the past, our eighth-graders have been accepted to St. Thomas Aquinas, Cardinal Gibbons, Westminster Academy, University School, and American Heritage.

We are fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Council for Private School Accreditation, and Christian Schools of Florida. Bethany is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.

Bethany Christian School is located on US1 (South Federal Highway between Broward Boulevard and Davie Boulevard) in Ft. Lauderdale. From I-95, exit Broward Boulevard (east). Turn right (south) on US-1 and proceed through the Kinney Tunnel. The school office is on the corner of US1 and SE 8th Street.

If you will be attending the Admissions Open House, please RSVP online to let us know you plan to be here the evening of November 1st. Thank you.

Bethany Christian School's 13th Annual Pumpkin Patch

~ October 12th - 31st ~
It's a Downtown Fort Lauderdale tradition - Bethany Christian School holds an annual Pumpkin Patch that is unrivaled! Besides raising money for the annual 8th grade Washington D.C. trip, the Bethany pumpkin patch creates memories for everyone.

If you are a parent of an 8th grade student, the hours you put in will go directly towards your child's trip. Students in 5th-7th grades will have their hours "banked" until they reach 8th grade!

Sign Up Today!

The preparations for Bethany Christian School's 13th Annual Pumpkin Patch are in full swing!

The pumpkins are due to arrive around October 11th and we will need "all hands on deck" to make this year's Patch a huge success! Proceeds will go towards the middle school students' 8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip.

Please click on the link below to sign up for a shift or to help set up for this year's Pumpkin Patch. It is so easy and it's a fun way to spend time with your kiddos among the pumpkins. You'll be creating memories for a lifetime!

We get our pumpkins from Northern New Mexico, off a farm on the Navajo Indian Reservation. At no cost to us, the farmers plant over 1,200 acres of pumpkins, gourds and ornamental corn. The vegetables are harvested and then shipped to us.

We only pay for the pumpkins we sell!

Husbands and wives, parents and children - all find a unique opportunity to work together as a family to support our school. Whether it's unloading a truck with 1,000 pumpkins, helping a customer buy their "perfect pumpkin", or baking a "broken pumpkin" pie for a Bake Sale, it's quality time for the entire family.

The Pumpkin Patch is a family affair!

The success of Bethany's Annual Pumpkin Patch is directly correlated to you - our wonderful volunteer parents and students! Thank you so much for your support!

The mission and vision for The Mustard Seed Campaign is to go on a spiritual journey together as a church and school. It's about changed lives. We will come together around this shared mission to grow the resources God has provided for the purpose of changing lives and planting seeds. A seed, that when planted, will continue to provide a sanctuary for future generations. Ongoing space needs beyond religious education and scheduling issues continue to impact our growth potential.

Our combined goal?

We need to raise a formidable $3.6 million to transform our plans into reality.

Thus far, we have received donations and pledges totaling $3.1 million!

Thank you for your support! However, we still need your help to close the gap!

If you would like to further partner with us, or have not had a chance to participate in the campaign yet, there are several ways to help reach the full $3.6 million goal. Please check out the ways to participate...

Ways to participate in the campaign:

1) Pray! Unless the Lord moves in all of this, we know that our labors and hopes are in vain.

2) You may offer a three-year pledge or a one-time gift to Bethany Christian School. This may be as simple as offering a check made out to Bethany Christian School with "Mustard Seed" noted in the memo line; it may be a gift of appreciated stock (to take double advantage of tax benefits); or even the offer of donated or discounted services to assist in our construction efforts.

3) You may text "mustard" to bidpal (243725) on your smartphone. Share this information with your extended family members and friends and have them text too! Everyone is invited to share in the excitement! After sending the text, your phone will receive an electronic link that walks you through the process of making an online donation.

Our school family has already demonstrated an incredible amount of generosity. Our "Hungry Games" event shattered our expectations - more than doubling our goal. However, if you are excited to invest in pushing us over the top of our goal, we would greatly appreciate a gift of any size. We are almost there!

Every student looks forward to Casual Day, a fun way to raise money for our school! Proceeds are applied toward the 4th-8th grade class trips and it costs just $1.00 to wear something uniquely your own. The 5th Grade class is responsible for collections at each entrance to both buildings at the beginning of the Casual School Day. School dress codes regarding modesty and proper shoes still apply. The schedule of casual days is found here in this downloadable document which includes the guidelines and info for the 2015-2016 school year.

Please take a moment to read the official dress code document posted here on our website. It has been updated for the new school year. All BCS parents should be aware of these guidelines for their students. The specific code is easy to follow, as it is clearly explained in great detail. Remember, our school uniforms and the general dress code are important to adhere to, and we encourage parents to familiarize themselves with these rules each year.

School lunches may be ordered up to several months in advance. Orders must be placed one week prior to the desired lunch date. Click here to order lunches. The school password is Bethany7.

We invite you to join the BCS mailing list. You'll then receive our periodic email messages about all that's happening here at Bethany. We look forward to keeping in touch with you throughout the school year.
