Bahamas Relief Underway

Hurricane Dorian has caused an unprecedented amount of damage to the islands of the Bahamas. Bethany Christian School, along with Rio Vista Community Church, are here to help our island neighbors. We are partnering with Samaritan's Purse and Church United South Florida to assist in these relief efforts.

Samaritan's Purse is an internationally renowned relief agency well known for coordinating efforts following a disaster. They were at the forefront in the Bahamas following Hurricane Matthew. By working together, we believe we can make the biggest impact.

At this point, we are collecting only the most essential items including: bottled water, first-aid kits, toiletries, personal hygiene items (i.e. diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, etc.), over-the-counter medications, tarps, and rope. These donated supplies will be collected inside the RVCC Fellowship Hall. We plan on launching our first shipment to the Bahamas by the end of the week.

If you prefer to offer financial support for this hurricane relief effort, Church United's Angel Relief Fund (administered by the National Christian Foundation) is currently accepting monetary donations. The Angel Relief Fund ensures that 100% of your donation goes directly to relief efforts and in service of those in desperate need.

You may donate funds now by clicking here: Angel Relief Fund.

Please continue to pray for the people affected by this vicious storm -- namely that God would grant them an abundance of peace, comfort, and hope in the midst of this devastating season.

Psalm 46:1-3 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

Juliet Radich - platform.JPG

Bethany Christian School is so proud of 6th grader Juliet Radich. Juliet is a long-time BCS student and she struck double gold at the USA Diving Junior National Championships at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville during the summer. By doing so, this Bethany Bobcat landed one spot on the 24-member Team USA ensemble that competed at the 2019 Junior Pan American Championships in Santiago, Chile on Aug. 22-25. Juliet won the gold in the girls’ platform division with a score of 242.65, followed by Canada’s Lila Stewart (silver - 214.80) and Mexico’s Nattalia Nunez Sanchez (bronze - 210.30). We are so excited to follow Juliet throughout her diving career and to cheer her on. Please be sure to congratulate Juliet when you see her in the hallways. Go TEAM USA! Go Bobcats!

"ALL IN" - Bethany's Spiritual Theme of the Year

All In web.png

Bethany’s theme for this school year is “All In,” and our Bible verse will be Colossians 3:17.

"Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

We chose this theme because every moment of our lives is an opportunity to love others and to love God. It's an opportunity to show our gratitude to the One who created us and equipped us with all of our gifts and talents. Because God has given us such an amazing hope in the gospel of Jesus, we are now called to set our minds "on things above, not on earthly things." We are to think of God's purposes above our own. Therefore, we live with radical love, which produces humility, kindness, honesty, integrity, diversity, compassion, patience, forgiveness, peace, and gratitude. Our fleeting moments are not meaningless. Instead, they hold eternal significance when we are "ALL IN" to live for Him.
